The FlowGuard MP™ Automatic Recirculation Valve (ARC Valve) is an advanced self-actuated pump protection solution engineered to automatically maintain minimum safe flow through centrifugal pumps operating in medium-pressure industrial process systems. Designed for critical applications in mining, petrochemical, refinery, power generation, water treatment, and general process industries, the FlowGuard MP™ protects centrifugal pumps against cavitation, overheating, unstable low-flow operation, vibration, and premature mechanical failure.
The FlowGuard MP™ combines intelligent flow sensing, integrated check valve functionality, automatic bypass flow control, and multi-stage pressure reduction into one compact and highly reliable valve assembly. By automatically regulating bypass recirculation flow according to changing process demand, the valve ensures continuous pump protection without the need for external power, instrumentation, PLC control systems, or pneumatic actuation.
As process flow decreases below the pump’s minimum required operating flow, the FlowGuard MP™ automatically opens the bypass recirculation system, safely redirecting excess flow back to the storage tank or process system. When process demand increases, the bypass closes progressively, allowing full pump capacity to flow directly to the process line. This fully automatic operation improves pump reliability, stabilizes operating conditions, and reduces maintenance costs while protecting valuable rotating equipment.
The FlowGuard MP™ is specifically designed for medium-pressure and moderate differential pressure applications where operational stability, cavitation control, and low-noise performance are critical. The valve utilizes a multi-stage cage bypass pressure reduction system that reduces fluid velocity and pressure in controlled stages before recirculation. This advanced pressure reduction technology minimizes cavitation, flashing, vibration, and excessive operational noise commonly associated with high-velocity recirculation flow.
Its unique L-type bypass design further improves flow stability and reduces turbulence, making the FlowGuard MP™ ideal for demanding process conditions requiring reliable and continuous pump protection.
The valve also incorporates an integrated non-return function as standard, preventing reverse flow from returning to the pump and protecting the system during shutdown or process interruptions.
Manufactured using forged carbon steel, stainless steel, and other specialized materials, the FlowGuard MP™ is available in a wide range of pressure classes, sizes, and material configurations to suit various industrial operating conditions. The valve is suitable for liquid media including water, hydrocarbons, chemicals, condensate, and process fluids across a wide operating temperature range.
