Non Slam Check Valve NSCV
The KV Controls NSCV Nozzle Check Valve is a spring-assisted non-return valve designed to prevent reverse flow and reduce check-valve slam in water pumping systems. Its streamlined body and diffuser support efficient flow, while the short disc stroke enables rapid closure. The range covers DN50–DN1200, with configuration selection subject to operating conditions.
NSCV Nozzle Check Valve for Water Pumping Systems
The KV Controls NSCV Nozzle Check Valve provides automatic backflow prevention for water supply, treatment and distribution systems. Also known as a silent or non-slam check valve, it is designed to reduce check-valve slam and the associated pressure surges that can occur during pump shutdown or power failure.
Its spring-assisted closure mechanism and short disc travel support a rapid response as forward flow decreases. The integral diffuser and streamlined internal flow path are designed to minimise hydraulic resistance through the valve.
Features and Benefits
- Automatic backflow prevention: Helps protect pumps and connected pipework against reverse flow.
- Non-slam design: Spring-assisted closure helps reduce check-valve slam and associated noise.
- Streamlined flow path: The body and diffuser guide water through the valve with reduced flow resistance.
- Ductile iron construction: Provides a robust body for water-system applications.
- EPDM-coated disc: Provides resilient seating.
- Protective epoxy coating: Internal and external coating helps protect coated surfaces against corrosion.
Typical Applications
The NSCV nozzle check valve is intended for applications including:
- Water pumping stations.
- Water supply and distribution networks.
- Water treatment systems.
- Tank-connected pipework.
- Power-station cooling lines.
- Cooling and HVAC systems.

Available combinations of size, pressure rating, materials and flange drilling require confirmation. Nominal pressure designations do not establish allowable pressure across the full temperature range.
Selecting Your NSCV Nozzle Check Valve
Selection should consider flow rate, operating pressure, water temperature, pump shutdown behavior and installation orientation. Water-hammer performance depends on the complete pumping system and its operating conditions.
