Overview

KV Controls’ V-TYPE 1000/2000 are double-offset, high-performance butterfly valves for compact isolation and stable throttling. V-TYPE 1000 serves ASME Class 150 and V-TYPE 2000 serves ASME Class 300. The series follows established high-performance butterfly valve design and test practices and is actuator-ready via ISO 5211 mounting.

  • Inherent characteristic: Modified equal-percentage (typical for double-offset, high-performance butterfly valves)

  • Installed performance: Predictable gain through mid-stroke and stable throttling in many systems, making the V-TYPE suitable for both isolation and modulating control where a compact package is preferred over a globe valve

Cycle life and durability

  • Indicative performance: Soft-seat V-TYPE builds have demonstrated zero-leakage after high cycle counts in test conditions around 285 psi.

  • The double-offset camming action reduces rubbing contact and operating torque, extending seat life. Actual cycle life depends on differential pressure, medium, size, and actuator selection.

Actuation and torque

  • Mounting: ISO 5211 top mounting for direct pneumatic or electric actuation

  • Sizing: Use KV Controls torque charts and apply service factors for medium, differential pressure, temperature, and safety. KV Controls sizes actuators and positioners to the worst-case duty.

  • Design & testing practices: align with API 609 and ASME B16.34 for high-performance butterfly valves

  • Pressure testing: aligns with API 598 / ISO 5208 practices

  • Combine with pneumatic or electric actuators and smart positioners for closed-loop control, sized from torque data for your duty case.
